rescheduled

Mitt

Another gift. These oven mitts are really easy and fun to make. I just make mine up as I go along, but I know that Denyse Schmidt's book has an oven mitt pattern if you'd like to give it a go.

I have a guest post over at Kiddley in honor of Santa Lucia Day. Mia was up really early today with her crown on, ready to serve everybody breakfast. Unfortunately, I was up really late with Miles whose fever was so high that he was hallucinating (frightening!...he's much better today, thank goodness), and I didn't have it in me to get up and make saffron buns.  We decided to reschedule Santa Lucia for the solstice. Someone's ready...

the goose is getting fat

Stocking_13

So far so good on my daily posts promise. I was just thinking how this time last year I was making a-stocking-a-day for our advent garland. You can see the whole set here. I never made number twenty-four. I need to get on that.

If you're thinking about doing something with your partner or family for advent, there's a wealth of ideas in the comments of this post from last year. More ideas about keeping the holidays simple and meaningful can be found here.

boo!

Bat_1

Hello everyone and thank you for your well wishes and suggestions. My neck is so much better today. I can look in all directions, and I'm loving it! I tried my best to stay away from the computer, but just had to check in now and again. I left emails untouched except for work and volunteer stuff, so I'll have to continue to try to catch up with those over the next week. I've got my sewing area all set up so that I can do most everything (ironing, cutting and sewing) standing up. I feel good to go!

Despite our jam-packed fall schedule, I am trying to really slow down. I have so many wonderful opportunities right now, and it's time that I stopped worrying about them and started enjoying them. I had a moment this morning when I realized, it will be okay. It will all get done. Everything will fall into place. Even now, it's okay.

Bats

My kids have been asking for Halloween decorations, so Mia and I made and hung these bats yesterday. Today we're having a friend over and I think we'll give these ghosts a try. Looks messy, but as Miles said when he looked at the bats, "It's still not spooky enough in here."
