the long goodbye
Spring break was nice. A little camping. A little celebrating of my 37th birthday. A little dying of eggs. A little round of sickness around the house. A little break from my email inbox. A little bit of thinking.
The result of the thinking is that I have decided to retire from craft blogging. I've been doing this, in one form or another, for two and a half years, and the short story is...I'm just ready to move on. I will be continuing with 3191 and maybe some other projects as well. I hope to set up a web page soon where you can get news about what I'm working on and how/where to purchase things I make.
I will, however, be posting here through the end of April...part last hurrah, part long goodbye. I'm excited to share the things that I'm making for the show with my sister at Doe and will be aiming to post something new every week day.
* * * * a huge thank you to everyone who reads little birds handmade. i will miss you all very much. * * *

right on steph. i'll still pop back to this space for inspiration and i thank you for it. so glad we have 3191. cheers!! xo maria

Thank you for sharing so many beautiful things over the last 2 and a half years. I only came across your blog in January, but I've thoroughly enjoyed your posts and the archives. You've inspired me to sew for the first time in many years. I'm looking forward to the remaining posts.

A few months ago I found your blog and visit frequently and love the ideas that you have shared. A big sigh went out with your post but I look forward to your new ventures and just want to say thank you for taking the time to share what you do - they have been little inspirations!

I think this is one of my favorite photographs.

It has been wonderful getting to know you over the year or so and I truly respect your decision. Your entries will be missed but that just means that we will need to make a date to get together sometime when we are both free.
You are amazing and I am looking forward to all of the beautiful photos on 3191.

a year ago, i was drawn to your blog because of your amazing way to capture beauty through a lens. it takes so much effort to maintain a blog {photos, content, e-mail....} + and then the wide array of handmade crafting. i commend you for making this decision. it's bittersweet but life is a balance + to keep that balance sometimes means letting go. i can't tell you how good it feels to just post photos to flickr these days. i've learned life beyond the web is paramount. my mantra: family + fresh air first. my best to you!

I'd like to send my thanks as well for your inspiration over the years. You have an eye for the simple beauty that surrounds us everyday, and have helped me personally to take more notice of my surroundings.
