studio->->->craft room
I've been really, really busy in my studio...but not making things for the shop...or the show...I've been cleaning and rearranging...and we're not calling it "mom's office" anymore. It's just the craft room. Things were getting a little crowded and cluttered in our household what with Miles evacuated from his room (still haven't found a roofer) and the dining room (our only place to eat) in the middle of a renovation. I opened up my space (I had a work table blocking one of the doors) and created a kid's drawing area on one side.
The wall board is homasote (Jack picked it up for free with some other office equipment) covered in linen (also from a free pile). I added a pocket (a la Sally) for each child to keep their works in progress (they are lined and have been reinforced with interfacing).
I gave up a lot of my space, but this just works so much better for our family (Mia and I are in here together as I type). It forced me to pare down and organize my supplies as well. Now I'm really ready to get busy!

I so, SO love the drawing space. You've definitely inspired me to carve out some craft space for my little one.

I love those chairs...I think you said it in an old post but what is the name of the paint color? I am about to paint my apartment and I am looking for a color similar to that. Thanks!

What a great way to keep them corralled...our kid's art seems to slowly creep throughout the house.

That is a wonderful space. I have both of those fabrics you used for the pockets. I especially love the paint-by-number birds!

My girls love being in my sewing room with me. I love it too. I'm always clearing a pile here or there to make space for them to work. You're inspiring me to create an official area that belongs to them. Great idea. Thank you.

I do love those wall pockets - that bird fabric looks like a half-finished water color. The kind found in thrift stores.

I'm 25 years old and I just did a little doodle that looks nearly IDENTICAL to the fun little sun drawing on your board. That's crazy!
