just hatched
Despite all my talk of spring, we've had relentless rain (and occasional snow) around here. So much rain in fact that a major leak forced Miles to evacuate his room and move in with his (none-too-pleased) sister. I'm still feeling spring, though.
This little chick is made from the softest, fluffiest alpaca and wool blend. I've had my eye on this luxurious fabric for a while, and it finally was marked down enough for me to be able to afford my little quarter of a yard. She's stuffed with wool as usual and has fabric-wrapped wire feet. My inspiration was this feather chick my sister gave me last year. A little flock of these chicks will be in my shop next week just in time for Easter baskets or other celebrations of spring. I'll let you know which day ahead of time.
forgot to add: Larissa is selling her very cool meathead hat pattern to benefit a family here in Portland. I'm totally excited to make one - even if I may have forgotten how to knit (it's been over a year now). She's accepting donations from non-knitters as well.

She looks so worried - so adorable.

That looks like the softest, downiest chick there ever was. I've been mulling some knitted chick ideas in my mind - I see you have the jump on me - sweet stuff!

I really like your work, so fresh and good! I'm always too slow on the draw to get to your shop before all the treasures are gone! They remind me of the japanese fabric art called omiyage.

Thank you for the link Stephanie. We're up to $344.26 for Cassie's family! More than I had hoped for, and no end in sight. I appreciate your participation.
And, of course, that is a darn cute chick.

You are making some incredible things lately, Stephanie. This chick, she seems, to me, such a perfectly YOU rendition of the original one from your sister.

That is about the cutest thing I've ever seen! Of course, I have the exact same thought every single time I visit your blog.

Oh, I know what you mean about spring- it happens every year here on the West Coast- we get a bit of warm weather, and I think "spring is here" and then, wham, 3 more weeks of cold and snow! Which we are in the middle of right now. Sigh.
