harbingers
These crocuses are a sure-fire harbinger of spring in my neighborhood. They are popping up everywhere.
Other harbingers of spring around here:
the rare warm and sunny day that calls you outside to jump rope in your bare feet :: the preparation of taxes for our entirely self-employed household (wherein I start looking at every expense as a potential write-off) :: the rearranging of furniture :: the last (we hope) round of winter colds :: the resurrection of abandoned renovation projects :: the spreading of compost in the future garden plot :: the empty box of valentine's chocolates :: and you?

crocuses and paper whites, bird chatter, the first open windows of the season, the itch to clean every single surface.

wow... while today isn't that cold... spring seems so far away.

We're up to 9 1/2 hours of daylight and gaining almost 7 minutes each day, so spring is coming. But it is also -30F right now, meaning that the end of winter is still a ways away.

I got out + wore sandals yesterday, felt pretty exiting!

Longer, sunnier days. The car actually gets warm before pulling it in to work in the morning. Cats scratching to get outside. Snow in the mudroom melting. That feeling of... waking up.

My favorite flower ever, the violet, is blooming profusely in my garden!

Considering I'm in Alaska, harbingers of spring are still few and far between here. But I'll admire yours from afar!

the fact that two little boys are waking up earlier and earlier because sunlight is streaming through their windows so much earlier in the morning
love the jumprope photo!

longer days, definitely. those and earlier-than-usual (for chicago) spring cleaning brought on by planning ahead for moving into my fiance's apartment over the next few months.

Spring in our house means mre sand in the sheets, naps in the sun, red wine to watch the sunset on the deck.
(Oh, yes. And shaving the legs so I can expose them to light again.)

The 4 inches of snow outside have made Spring seem far, far away. No signs of it here yet...but I anxiously await its arrival.

That first picture is magical! The feet in motion and the shadow... Wow!

That first photo just shot me straight back to my childhood. Man I loved jumping rope. Harbingers of spring?
90 degree heat and saying "Wow what a BEAUTIFUL day" more often.

Sitting on the deck to eat breakfast, stifling the teeth chatters as I look at blossoming trees.

Hey; self-employed household? I hear you.

I have to agree with Connie, while the 9 1/2 hour days are so very nice, winter is still here for many more months for us.

oh i hear the "preparation of taxes for our entirely self-employed household" sentiment. i just did all of my itemization for last year and that was no fun. we are loving the warmer weather when it comes out but the intermittent rain is a bit sad at times.

on our usual saturday morning walk today (japan time) my sons and i spotted dozens of plum trees blossoming or on the cusp. it's cold and windy here too, but spring is visible everywhere

On the other side of the world summer is not letting up, we are waiting for a heatwave to break and autumn (fall) to start...but I can feel it creeping closer because I have an urge to knit!
