the goose is getting fat
So far so good on my daily posts promise. I was just thinking how this time last year I was making a-stocking-a-day for our advent garland. You can see the whole set here. I never made number twenty-four. I need to get on that.
If you're thinking about doing something with your partner or family for advent, there's a wealth of ideas in the comments of this post from last year. More ideas about keeping the holidays simple and meaningful can be found here.

wow thinking of numbers..this is the first time I have been first to comment...
wonderful stockings!! Do you put something inside to take out or put in everyday? Well done!

i love the idea
of stockings
for each day...
maybe i will
implement that
when my nephew
is old enough...
we had those
german calendars
that had a door
for each day with
a picture
and a chocolate.
but since
there were
5 of us
i only got to
open it every
5 days.

i really appreciate this post. i start to get over-whelmed (and sometimes sad) when the holidays really start to get into full swing, and I think a reminder of WHY we celebrate and HOW to celebrate in simpler & more meaningful ways is really important. Thank you for this.

I just felt my first twinge of Christmas ... fear? loathing? Just walking into the grocery store and seeing all the displays of chocolate and candy, etc. ITS JUST ALL TOO MUCH! We have steadily simplified in the past years and it feels good but really? I wish I could just escape it all ...

Ah-ha! I was wondering if we'd see those stockings again... ;)

Thanks for the link to Keeping Christmas simple. I partlicularly liked the suggestion to bring nature back and celebrating the Solstice by lighting candles and feeding the birds in your garden - just beautiful!

quite wonderful. we have been talking about spending for this year and how we want to focus on other things. i can not wait until Alena is old enough to enjoy the activities of an advent calendar. for this year we will focus on giving money to those who need it and make for those who we give gifts to.
i love the post from last year. i have printed it out for future advent ideas. this is the year for us to reevaluate the true intention of this time of year. thank you for the inspiration.
{i heard that Christmas is a $450,000,000 holiday in the US. if that is true it is quite a sad realization considering we are trying to find somewhere around $20,000,000 to cure things like cancer. it is quite sad.

Thank you so much for the link to last year's post. I was inspired to make my own stockings this year, but was at a loss for 24 ideas to put in them. This helped a lot!

Thanks for these timely reminders. I am making advent pockets this year and received some wonderful tips from readers about what to put in them (the non edible kind)

I particularly like this stocking; it has my lucky number 13.Are they for the tree or to hang up around the house?
