addictions and obsessions
Another button wreath. They're addictive. A couple people have asked where I get all my buttons. Mine all came from estate and yard sales or thrift stores. I've been collecting them off and on for ten years.
A work in progress:
A dollhouse for Mia. I really wanted to build one from one of those fancy kits, and I hope we will one day (or design our own), but this was an inexpensive and quick solution. It's from Joann's crafts, and I bought it with one of those 50% off coupons, so it was really reasonably priced (and already assembled).
The open interior is great for play, too. I hope to paint the exterior and maybe decorate one of the rooms in time for her birthday in a few weeks. The rest of the house we can work on together. I was rather obsessed with miniatures as a child, so this whole project is pretty thrilling for me. Any great miniature/dollhouse crafty links I should know about?
Thanks for looking, listening, and commenting this month. I'm going to take a little breather, but I'll be back next week sometime. Happy December!

There were some great vintage pieces of doll furniture at Stars antiques last week if you're interested. Wish I could describe which one and where in the store to help... darn.

I love the house! I was given a "naked" dollhouse and painted it for my daughter a few years back- I was SO excited to give it to her. All 3 kids play with daily.
I now have another house for my youngest daughter that I found at a garage sale- unfortunately I can not finish it for Christmas, but I plan to give it to her for her bday in April.
Enjoy your break. I enjoyed your daily photos and posts.

Happy Holidays....I HEART minitures...I had a Lundby Dollhouse and I still have it and plan on re-doing it for Memphis soooooon. She adores it the way it is but it needs some TLC.
Minitures are amazing and I could spend hours and hours working on the Lundby house and probably will. The one you got for Mia is really nice and I have to say I HEART Joann's. We go there all the time. My birthday is Dec. 12th...Sagittarians rule!!

How fun! I can't wait until my girls are old enough to get into this kind of stuff. And should check out http://turkeyfeathers.typepad.com/turkey_feathers/ if you don't already check out her blog. She does amazing dollhouse stuff, and so does her daughter!

I love those button wreaths, and I need to make one myself! Are they just glued onto a styrofoam form? Instructions, please :)

Super cute button wreath, but what do you attach them to?

Oh, the blank dollhouse! I cannot wait until my daughter can play with things like that (she just turned one... so, not for a while, sigh). I loved tiny doll things when I younger; I remember making lamps out of toothpaste caps and tables out of paperclips and fabric.

I have been looking and looking for a dollhouse kit for myself (an unfulfilled childhood fantasy maybe?) but haven't come across one that strikes me as 'The One'. If you find any good miniature links, be sure to post them.

i'm so excited for you two with this house thing... simple like that is good-- gratification will come a little quicker than having to get stuck with all the glueing and shingling. (shingling? yeah. that's right.)

hmmm, i am guessing that you will be looking forward to quality time with the house while mia is at school.

that house has a great shape, too.
I might love this wreath even more than the red one -- it's so great what happens visually when you choose a single color.
have a relaxing break!

Your button wreaths are so cute. Love the white one-sigh.
For doll house minatures, you should check out Turkey Feathers' blog and click on the link to their etsy shop. Her daughter makes the most adorable tiny things! They sell out super quick, but I just saw that they did a shop update today--so hurry!

GREAT ANOTHER ONE!!!! I was hoping you would do another and show us! So beautiful! Really those are all year round decorations. And the doll house looks like something out of Pottery Barn Kids. It's wonderful!
Have a nice break girl -Karla

That's a great little doll house. It doesn't have so much embellishment out of the box that you can't add your own personality to it. It looks like a fun project. I remember sitting with my mom, painting wallpaper onto my dollhouse walls -- good memories!
