boo!
Hello everyone and thank you for your well wishes and suggestions. My neck is so much better today. I can look in all directions, and I'm loving it! I tried my best to stay away from the computer, but just had to check in now and again. I left emails untouched except for work and volunteer stuff, so I'll have to continue to try to catch up with those over the next week. I've got my sewing area all set up so that I can do most everything (ironing, cutting and sewing) standing up. I feel good to go!
Despite our jam-packed fall schedule, I am trying to really slow down. I have so many wonderful opportunities right now, and it's time that I stopped worrying about them and started enjoying them. I had a moment this morning when I realized, it will be okay. It will all get done. Everything will fall into place. Even now, it's okay.
My kids have been asking for Halloween decorations, so Mia and I made and hung these bats yesterday. Today we're having a friend over and I think we'll give these ghosts a try. Looks messy, but as Miles said when he looked at the bats, "It's still not spooky enough in here."

your post
makes me
inspired to
decorate!
i need to live
by that motto-
"it will all
get done."

We just hung some bats up the other day. They spook me out a bit at night...but I'm a wimp like that. Anyways, if it makes you feel any better I don't a single thing completed for studio craft. I'm with you though, "it will all get done."

Simple and perfect!
Mine would drape those tangly fake spiderwebs over every surface in the house if I'd let him. He's dying to buy a fog machine too.

I was trying to explain what spooky means to my daughter yesterday. I'll show her your bats and see what she thinks.

Making the ghosts is pretty easy. We always made them smaller and used cucumbers with toothpicks as arms, for the forms.

For some people, it really seems to take a lot of effort to slow down. I have been trying to make a point of taking things slowly lately, but I still keep falling into old hectic routines. Keep up the effort to maintain a healthy pace though!
I love the bats!

You are so positive, it is endearing. My favorite quote: "I can look in all directions, and I'm loving it!" Ah the small things.

oh my gosh, we are planning to make those ghosts too! Too bad we can't have a kid crafting get together.
And, yes, according to my husband who reassures me when I get stressed about everything, it will all be ok. And, interestingly enough, it always is.
Glad your neck is better! xo

Glad you are feeling better - it's horrible not being able to turn your neck isn't it? it feels like you've got a coat hanger stuck to your shoulders! Love your bats at the window, A few of those cute linen ghosts from Marie Claire Idees would look nice there too. I'm assuming as you've been poorly this week there won't be an etsy update today?

I've made ghosts like that forever! You can use a soda or water bottle for the base, the styro ball or a balloon for the head and use some aluminum foil covered with saran, twist around bottle neck and shape them to look like arms. drape fabric over them and wait until they dry. We also like to use a sharpie to add eyes, etc. They last for years--your kids will love them!

I love the bats. Last year, we did sculpey clay pumpkins and ghosts to hang on our white wire tree. This year, I think we will do the Family Fun suggestion of ghosts out of salt dough.
Standing to work is a great thing sometimes. I've worked in two offices where at least one person had a gorgeous old standing desk. Love it.
