again with the french accessories
No room for a hat with those ears, so he got a striped sweater instead. There will be a small update to my shop today at 10 am PST. Just stuffed animals as they were the only thing that I was interested in making this week (next week I'll have some tissue holders for all some of you who are waiting for one).
Someone asked me in the comments yesterday what I use for my stuffed's eyes. They are made of 100% wool felt and embroidery floss, and while I think they are what makes all my stuffed animals recognizable as my own, cutting out and embroidering all those little eyes can be a real drag. I could use some little eye-making elves!
Happy weekend!

Thank god - I found you! cheers Mette

Oh Steph, I feel a children's book sparking around these characters, they are all so magical and full of personality. And your eyes (both stuffies and your own), just lovely. xo

i love his slouched pose.

I like the eyes because they make the animals suitable for very little folks--no buttons to swallow. (I assumed that's why you were doing it, but you're right that they do mark the pieces as yours.)

i was just beginning to comment that I thought a children's book should be your next project with these adorable frenchies--but blair beat me to it. they are fantastic.

Salut ma petite!
Oh gosh, I am such a francophile and adore all of your stuffeds! You are so awesome-I love watching your style evolve-so much inspiration for us all!
I hope you are well and I look forward to seeing you at Studio Craft!

Oh my!!! I thought the last animal was adorable, but this one is Super Adorable! :) The little striped top is just so cute!!
Thank you for answering my question about the eyes. I couldn't tell from the photos if they were little matte sequins or what. Now my curiousity is satisfied (and I agree--your choice of eye material/technique do make these recognizable and unique!). :)

Your items get snatched up so quickly from your shop! That must feel great... There are lots and lots of lil stuffed guys out there, but yours are among the best, imo.

I love yor French bunny. It would be fun to see a berret and little french mustache on one of your animals. Just Kidding. That newsprint fabric is incredible. Where does it come from?
Posted by: Marci | October 14, 2006 at 06:46 AM
oh yes, a moustache would be parfait! i love the striped shirt, especially the cuffs. how dapper!

I was so thrilled that in between cleaning breakfast dishes and entertaining a toddler with the sniffles, I was able to snap up the hippo. She is to be the pink girlfriend to a most beloved dogeared grey hippo belonging to my son.
Can't wait to see his face when he sees it!

This little bunny is so adorable. I'll echo others when I say that the newsprint for his ears and the little striped sweater are simply perfection. Oh, and the little hippo was divine. (I especially loved it within the context of that darling book. Gonna have to hunt one down now.)

I can't even stand how much I adore this little guy. I'm heading to your shop PRONTO! He and I were meant to be together (well - he and my 2 yr old anyway)

Those EARS! I could just eat this wabbit up! He would HAVE to have a gorgeously French name and outrageous accent, non?
