::red friday::
Wow. Thank you so much to everyone who came here and commented and participated in color week. I'm sorry that I have not had time to visit everyone's blogs and experience all the great color out there (this week started out as a way for me to take a break and get some other things done, remember?), but I will try to make some time over the next few days.
The Red Balloon is one of my all-time favorite movies. It quite literally changed my life when I first saw it in elementary school when I was not much older than Mia. It turned me into a francophile for one thing, but it also was incredibly validating and liberating to a child like me, one who lived in a world of her own making most of the time. It has continued to occupy my thoughts and inform my aesthetic for nearly thirty years now. I couldn't wait to share the experience of this movie with Mia. It was, I think, the first movie she ever saw when I tried to show it to her a year or so ago. She was absolutely terrified and demanded I turn it off. She's already a francophile anyway.
