::red friday::

Red_balloon

Wow. Thank you so much to everyone who came here and commented and participated in color week. I'm sorry that I have not had time to visit everyone's blogs and experience all the great color out there (this week started out as a way for me to take a break and get some other things done, remember?), but I will try to make some time over the next few days.

The Red Balloon is one of my all-time favorite movies. It quite literally changed my life when I first saw it in elementary school when I was not much older than Mia. It turned me into a francophile for one thing, but it also was incredibly validating and liberating to a child like me, one who lived in a world of her own making most of the time. It has continued to occupy my thoughts and inform my aesthetic for nearly thirty years now. I couldn't wait to share the experience of this movie with Mia. It was, I think, the first movie she ever saw when I tried to show it to her a year or so ago. She was absolutely terrified and demanded I turn it off. She's already a francophile anyway.

blue thursday

Blue_hannas

Taken this morning at breakfast. Not overwhelmingly blue, but I thought maybe people were getting tired of still-lifes. Or maybe I'm just not ready to venture out from my neutral territory.

Today is the first day of our summer break from school, and we're all quite pleased!

gray/black wednesday

Grey

From my collection of lead letterpress type.

Last night we hung sheet rock in the kitchen. I've been grumbling about the exposed lathe and plaster and duct work for two years, but now that it's all covered up, I kind of miss it. Go figure.

brown tuesday

Brown

natural linen :: seedpods :: coffee with half & half :: beach sand :: dark chocolate :: bird's nests :: organic eggs :: drift wood :: wild mushrooms :: sepia-toned photos :: a pint of cream stout :: fallen leaves :: gingerbread :: brown paper packages tied up with string :: these are a few of my favorite things

::white monday::

Vintage_bag

I've spoken of my love of white before. I took this photo of a vintage bag with my lensbaby lens.

I think I'll just let my photos do the talking this week while I continue to play catch-up with the rest of my life. Enjoy, and please join in if you are so inclined! I'll definitely be browsing around, and I'll post a recap at the end of the week.

color week

Melmac_snack_plates_1

So, next week, color? Here's what we came up with:

monday :: white
tuesday :: brown
wednesday :: black/gray (a color, not a black & white photo)
thursday :: blue
friday :: red

Now, mav and I, we like our neutrals a lot. The black brown, white day was definitely our favorite last time around, so we gave each of these a day of their own. Apologies to the neutrals-shmeutrals types out there. We're also going to be posting just one color-themed photo a day to keep it simple and focused. Everyone is invited to join in on any or all of the days. I'll try to look around and post some of my favorites at the end of the week. Enjoy!

Pig1

This little pig has been languishing in the unfinished pile for weeks. He finally has eyes, ears, button snout and curly tail.

He'll be at Crafty Wonderland tomorrow and, if you're local, I hope you'll come by and say hello. I am excited to have the opportunity to meet some of you!

Pincone_3

Another little something I'm making for Crafty Wonderland. It's a "pincone". I have so much left to do before Sunday! Ack! I owe a lot of people thank yous and emails. You'll hear from me soon!

All the things that don't sell at the fair will be in the shop next week. Thanks for all your positive comments. I have loved concentrating on color this week (even though it was not the most ideal week for daily posts) and I hope to be back tomorrow with some red/pink/purple.
