done(ish)!
It is super gray and dreary here (we were supposed to get snow...no such luck), making photo-taking a real challenge, but you get the idea. I'll take another photo when I've done my seasonal decorating. Number 24 is still missing, so I didn't quite make my deadline, but I just ran out of steam last night. I'm also someone who has an incredible resistance to really finishing anything, so that may have played a part. See them all here.
They are hanging on the built-ins in our dining room/office/play room/art and sewing space. We overslept this morning and had to rush out the door, so M&M have yet to peek into number one (there's some lavender bubble bath in there). After we take each stocking down for the surprise inside, I'll hang it on the lower level of the built-in, so we'll have a count of how many days have passed and how many remain.
The stocking have been a great deal of fun, but I am so ready to move on to other things. I have been obsessed with the idea of conical-shaped soft trees like the ones in the Cotton & Paint magazine I saw at Molly Chicken. The new Martha Stewart Kids has some great ideas too. This scrooge is getting in the mood!

They look so great! I can't tell you how many people I've told about this wonderful project, I hope maybe I can plan a little better and make an advent for my kids next year. I feel lame, we're doing the Playmobil one again this year. Doesn't feel quite the same after seeing all the handmade ones.
The snow you were looking for must have moved North, cause its coming down outside my window right now! Happy 1st day of Advent!

The advent stockings really turned out fantastic. But I thought they were brown until I followed the link to see more on flickr. How wonderful and bright they are! Unlike this weather. I struggled with my pictures today too.

They look great! I have the same affliction when it comes to actually finishing projects. I always get hung up on the last little details -- too anxious to start new things, I guess. We were also really hoping for snow today. The boys were so disappointed when they woke up. I mostly just wanted schools to be closed so we could sleep in!

Little Bird:
I would like to thank you for your inspiration. I ran across your blog a few months ago and became very inspired by your sewing. Last month I had my mother show me the basics and fell in love with the craft. I have been sewing every day for the past 30 and as of the 15th I will be selling my stuff at a local holiday art market. It is because of you and your blogging that I found my new passion. Thank you so much!! I started a blog especially for my new hobby www.llcoolwear.blogspot.com

Those look so beautiful! When my daughter is old enough to appreciate them, I'll be working on a set for my family. Thanks for the inspiration!

I tried to take a picture today, too, and it was a no go as well. Had to turn on just about every light in the house at 10 a.m. Alas, still no snow! At least, you have the darling sox!

So cute and amazing! I wouldn't have had the patience (or 24 different embellishment ideas)!
