Introducing Mama Duck. She's from essentially the same pattern as Cack Cack, but made of linen with wool felt, gingham, and a vintage fabric head scarf.
I wanted to experiment with raw seams and create something with a true hand-sewn look. Inspiration for the head scarf came from this photo from a Japanese craft book I saw on eBay.

Mama Duck is going to waddle off to a new home and I'm sad to see her go (even though I threw her in the trash bin halfway through, poor thing).

You did a nice job with the duck. I love using raw edges in my sewing, there is something so earthy about it.

That is just adorable. I have a few Japanese craft books with patterns for babies and I love the way that they use linen and other earthy, neutral fabrics with delicate floral prints. So pretty!

oh she is just beautiful! I love the raw edges. I'm amazed at your patience.. I would have no luck with that at all. the edges would just shred apart on me. I can barely keep the wool felt together.
I love the kerchief!

That is the cutest, sweetest, darlingest little duckling I have ever seen! I'm in love! The raw edges are beautiful and her kerchief adds just the right touch. Raw edges are on my "to try" list too; you have proven yourself a master!

I love the raw edges. Do you have any tips on how to keep them from fraying away as you sew? I'm often tempted to keep my softies inside out - not turn them after sewing them right sides together - but then I always chicken out. This duck is really wonderful.

Beautiful - so much personality. She's just like a storybook character.
Thanks for your very encouraging comment about the self-portrait thing. I'm not sure if I'll ever be as brave as you and do a full shot, but we'll see. When I can work out how to airbrush so that I look like Kate Winslet, maybe...

What can I add that has not been said already...? I'll just drive your comments number up then.
:-)
Perfecto!
